Project Description

Land Clearing. Demolishing part of the existing Cariboo bridge. Excavation of new utilities including a crossing under the Kinder Morgan jet fuel pipe line. Develop a geotechnical plan, and excavation and install of shotcrete walls for staged construction. Large excavation and low density fill for structural support. Foundation excavation, reinforcing and cast in place of bridge foundation and columns. Install concrete girders over Kinder Morgan jetfuel line, install steel girders over hwy 1. Mechanically secured Earth retaining walls, drainage, widening and paving, intersection improvement construction, Full Hwy 1 closures, Storm drainage and hwy subdrain. Lock block retaining walls. Parapets, copings and custom railings. Sitch traffic over to newly constructed bridge, demo the remainder of old structure, complete stage 2 of new structure. Grading, planting and hydroseeding of finished area.

Project Challenges

Working in tight quarters surrounded by Kiewet PMH 1 construction. Working with local churches and neighbours including RCMP to minimize access and egress. Multiple works aound the Kinder Morgan jet fuel line ensured that we developed a positive relationship with them to ensure compliance and protection of their asset. Traffic management for full closures during key construction activities and monitoring detour route.
